Fawn Brown

BIO

Fawn Brown is a nature-based artist who grew up exploring in the mountains of Wyoming, to the plains of New Mexico. These experiences deeply shaped her artistic vision, instilling a profound love for wildlife and the rugged beauty of the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes she cherishes, Fawn creates vibrant watercolor and gouache paintings that blend traditional scenic elements with pops of color and a touch of whimsy. Her work captures the serenity of nature while evoking a sense of wonder and connection.

As an artist, Fawn aims to inspire others to reconnect with nature and cultivate a greater appreciation for the environment. She bridges ecological science and art, using her creations as a platform to spark conversations about conservation. She had her debut solo exhibition, “Earthen Terrains”, in November of 2024, utilizing dirt and crushed rock to form her paintings. Her artwork has been featured in exhibitions across Texas, including the Texas State Capitol, as well as in the Pacific Northwest.

STATEMENT

As I’ve grown in my practice, I’ve become inspired to do more than paint the land around me. I want to paint with it, on it, and in it. The outdoors call to me in such a primal way that I can’t ignore. Of course I want to paint a pretty sky, but I also want to know why the clouds formed that way and if they are different somewhere else. I want to know how the weather affects the valley compared to the mountains. I want to make people consider how long it took for bison trails to form and what could possibly strip bark off a tree. To me, a landscape painting isn’t just a pretty picture, it’s a thousand stories summed into one scene and it’s up to us to find out what those stories are.
